In the Netherlands, if you work you have a right to a break so that you can rest or have something to eat. Right to breaks If you work in the Netherlands, you have the right to take breaks. If you work more than 5.5 hours a day, you have a right to at least a 30-minute break. If you work more than 10 hours a day, you have a right to a 45-minute break. Important! A break is taken in your own time. Dividing up breaks In some cases, you can divide up your break into several smaller breaks of at least 15 minutes. Ask your employer what the arrangements are at your work.

The Dutch rule

Arbeidstijdenwet, Artikel 5:4
1. De werkgever organiseert de arbeid van een jeugdige werknemer zodanig dat, indien hij meer dan 4,5 uren arbeid per dienst verricht, zijn arbeid tijdens de dienst wordt onderbroken door een pauze. De pauze bedraagt ten minste 30 minuten, die zonodig kan worden gesplitst in pauzes van elk ten minste 15 minuten.
