Temperature at work

Official explanation by the Dutch government in English

Work in NL, Temperature at work
In the Netherlands, there are rules that protect you if you have to work in extreme temperatures. Risks of working in high temperatures If you work in high temperatures or with hot products, you can become tired or lose your concentration. This is a sign your body is not working as well as it normally does. You can also get sunburn or become dehydrated if you do not drink enough. This is bad for your health. What does your boss need to do if it is hot where you work? Working all day in a greenhouse or in the sun can be bad for your health. Your boss must provide a safe workplace. The temperature must not be too high. If it is hot, your employer must take measures such as giving you extra refreshment breaks or adjusting the work roster so you can stay healthy while you work.

The Dutch rule

Arbeidsomstandighedenbesluit, Artikel 6.1 Temperatuur
