In the Netherlands, you sometimes have to file a tax return. This means that you have to report how much you have earned to Belastingdienst. Filing a tax return in the Netherlands If you live and work in Netherlands, you can also file a tax return in the Netherlands. You do this yourself. A financial advisor or accountant can also file your tax return for you. In that case, you must give this person permission to file your tax return. Many people receive a letter from Belastingdienst in February. This letter tells you that you must file your tax return before 1 May. You can still file a tax return even if you do not receive a letter. You might get money back, but in some cases you might have to pay money. How to file a tax return You file your own tax return.
